The Institution is aware that design improves the quality of everyday living, enriches our surroundings and gives a sense of identity and visual expression. Therefore the design department at NIAAD strives to establish in each student a strong foundation of design fundamentals and visual literacy from which to develop excellence in creative problem solving.

2. Fine Art Courses

At NIAAD, the Fine Art course offers a unique opportunity for students to follow their own path through a range of subject areas. The courses are centered on the individual student’s potential and imagination. Emphasis is placed on helping students develop visual awareness, artistic analysis, acquiring skills in the use of both traditional and new materials.

3. Art Education Courses

The Art Education courses are  designed for students who wish to pursue professional training as artist-teachers in public and private schools, museums, community-based programs, and other alternative educational sites. The courses offered in the Department expose learners to the challenges of teaching art and design in Secondary and primary Schools. Through various courses, the learners are introduced to the concepts of art and education, and how individuals are able to learn through art with great improvisation of materials and techniques. Students are prepared to be innovative researchers and strong advocates for the arts in schools.

The programmes are on a full time basis with continuous studio practice and industrial training. At the end of each semester, an exhibition of all the studio works done during the semester is scheduled and examinations in all programmes are conducted. Individual studio research projects are carried out in year two semester two.
